I am back from San Antonio! I had a lot of fun, although of course the weather was kind of gloomy until the day i had to leave. That seems to be how vacations work. I got in late on Friday and i was starving, so we started the weekend of eating terribly by going to Whataburger. Yum. Then we just went to Michaels hotel and watched tv, went to bed. The standard.
Saturday we went to Chick-Fil-A (why don't we have one in Seattle???), then walked around downtown and we tried to go to Monster Jam but we should have known it would be a huge hit in Texas. But we didn't think of that... We went to a museum that had a bunch of taxidermy animals, which i didnt realize when i said "lets go in!" So we paid $40 to see dead animals. Oh well, we got some cute pictures of us being eaten by bears, sharks, a moose, and a polar bear.
Sunday we slept in til noon, which I havent done since i was about 6 months pregnant. Okay, maybe more like 9 months, ha. We ended up going to Monster Jam this day instead, and we had to buy tickets off of a scalper. Oh well. Next time we'll know that its a huge deal in San Antonio. I was a little disappointed though, the Monster Jam here always has a bunch of junker cars that the monster trucks run over but they didnt at this one. They had a few, but not the huge row like at the Tacoma Dome. Oh well, it was still fun. My throat was a little sore afterward. I love how these drivers and their sponsors spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on these trucks just to destroy them by rolling over. The crowd sure does love it though :) Then we went to Texas Pride Barbeque for dinner, and it was sooo good. Man i love meat, ha.
Monday was the day i was suppose to fly out, so we went to the Alamo then Fuddruckers for lunch. Michael dropped me off at the airport, then left... And i had a dilemma. My flight was thru Continental, which was being operated by Skywest, which was being operated by United. So first i went to the Continental check in, but they were closed. So i asked the lady at the American check in if there was a Continental person to check me in, and she said Continental's last flight was two hours ago... Um. WHAT?? So she looked at my itenarary and said "oh, you need to go down to terminal A, to Skywest. So i headed down there, got to the end and there was NO Skywest. I asked a security officer where Skywest was, and he said they don't have Skywest there... So then i showed him my itinerary and he told me I need to go to United. Soooo i walk back over to terminal B and get in line for United. My flight was scheduled to leave at 7:30pm and it was about 6:45. There was one employee working and about 20 people in front of me. I overheard some people getting panicked because their flight was delayed, so out of curiosity i looked up at the board and MY FLIGHT WAS DELAYED. By an hour. Which in turn would make me miss my connection back to Seattle. I called Michael and had him do some investigating, and then i found out that my flight out of Denver was the last flight of the night to Seattle, so i would have to stay the night at the Denver airport. Nooo!! After i finally got to the front of the line, i asked the ticket agent if i could just switch my flight to Tuesday, and luckily i was able to. Michael had to turn around and come get me, but we got to spend one more night together! So after my ordeal, that was a plus side.
Over my vacation, of course i missed Addison, but surprisingly I never felt guilty for leaving her. Probably because i knew she was in good hands. I was never really sad either, thank goodness.
(this was at Monster Jam)
I am so glad that you guys got to have a vacation together before his deployment! Even if it was a short one! Besides it sounds like you guys had a great time!
