.... that is when i last updated this sham of a blog. so much has changed in my (our) life (lives).
michael came home from overseas in january and as i mentioned before, we went on our little weekend away. we went down to sisters, oregon. we stayed at the most beautiful lodge i have ever seen. it was so snowy driving there, and you have to drive on a hillside that has a cliff just on the other side of the metal barrier. it was scary and unnerving. no lie i was a little terrified sometimes. we went down to bend and did some shopping at the outlet mall. all in all -- a fun and relaxing weekend even though we seemed to have chosen the most weather random weekend. when we got there, there were snowplows and 8 foot snowpiles. by the next morning, it was pouring and we were in a wind advisory so most of the snow was gone. the day we left, it was ice cold and pouring. strange pnw weather.
we didn't buy the house across from sarahs because it just needed too much work and our realtor wasnt convinced that our VA loan appraisal would approve it. it needed repainted and a new roof. we were bummed but also it was okay because the house is just too small.
we were thisclose to buying a bigger, newer house, but that fell thru the day of closing. yes, the day of closing. you indeed read that right. talk about a huge letdown. tears and frustration followed. we started the house hunting the next day because we are bursting at the seams here at sarahs. let me give you a visual. her house is 920 square feet. 3 adults, 1 toddler. 2-100 pound dogs, 2 cats. and a new puppy. yeah, bursting at the seams is an understatement. when it was just sarah, addison and i, it wasn't too bad. we had her 2 cats and i brought gunner here as well. but now that michael is home, we also have our other dog, tank, here. its just too much.
we are in the process of buying a brand new, not even built yet home! how exciting is that?? i am excited, to say the least. a germ free, never been lived in house? i'll take it!! we had to compromise on some things, but i think it is the best decision we could have made. we wont have 2 sinks or a soaking tub in the master bath -- those were 2 of my "really really wants" and we also wont have a man door in the garage leading to the yard. that was a huge disappointment because i wanted to be able to let the dogs in/out thru there and not worry about the floor getting dirty 5 times a day. the way our lot is, it just wont work with the grading. we went to the showroom a few weeks ago to pick out all of our stuff -- carpeting for the upstairs, flooring for downstairs (upgrade), cabinets for the kitchen and bathrooms, countertops, blinds (upgrade), kitchen sink faucet (upgrade), front door (upgrade), hmm i think thats about it.
addison is two. T-W-O. oh and she is sassy as can be. gives the best stinkeye i have ever seen on a toddler. she has recently started saying "i sowwy mama" whenever she does something naughty or that hurts me a little... like throwing her wooden puzzle pieces at me. her lung function is up, still not at 100% but getting there. she still has a paci and i am waiting for the last of her teeth to come thru before i start taking it away. i know it'll be a fight. its strange -- she never was a paci baby. then around 9 months she found one and there has been no turning back. she is a slow tooth grower so that isn't helping the cause, her 2nd set of molars are coming in now, along with her eye teeth. she is such a good kid though. i'm sure every parent says that though! she loves her playdates with grace and eden. they are all at such a fun age where they are interacting with one another instead of just doing the parallel play. she isn't so great at sharing and that embarrasses me, but i know its just her age. i just hate it. seriously. the "mine" thing, ugh. drives me bonkers.
she loves minnie still, and pandas. is obsessed with kung fu panda. obsessed. also loves tangled and lion king. which i wont complain about because i definitely would rather watch tangled or lion king over almost any other movie.
she is a terrible eater. doesnt eat vegetables, doesnt really eat meat (which is okay most of the time), heck she doesnt really EAT period! she just snacks all day and not even on real food. she snacks on snack food. i know that is mostly my fault because i am guilty of buying "convienence food" like cheese its, goldfish, pirates booty (which she is eating as we speak), and the like. but if i try to get her to sit in her booster seat at the table and put a plate of food in front of her she just cries and screams until i give her what she wants. shes the boss, i tell you.
i think thats enough. i dont think you signed on to read a novel. plus its really not that exciting!
